Subway is an American restaurant franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches (subs) and salads. It is the largest single-brand restaurant chain globally and is the second largest restaurant operator globally.

As of July 2008, the Subway chain now has over 1,250 stores open in the UK and Ireland and continues to expand at a phenomenal rate, with an average of six stores opening in the UK and Ireland every week.
